Homemade Hamburger Helper!

Ok, so I got home from school tonight at 4pm. Had some hamburger in the freezer and needed a REALLY quick meal as I had an art awards reception to attend. 3 kids and a hungry hubby... Of course there is no Hamburger Helper in the cupboard, my standard quick dinner fix. No time to run to the store either. Darn it... What am I going to do? I'm going to make my own. Yup, you heard it right. I made it homemade. It was just as fast and tasted great. Here's what I did.

Homemade Chili Cheese Mac Mix:

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 cup hot water
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
1 tablespoon corn starch
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
Brown ground beef in a large skillet; drain.
Add the Hot water and milk.
Mix together the corn starch, chilli powder, garlic powder, salt and paprika in a separate bowl.
Add the seasoning mix to the ground beef, milk and water and mix together.
Add the pasta.
Bring the mixture to a boil and then turn heat down to a simmer.
Simmer until the pasta is tender.
Add the cheddar cheese and stir until cheese is melted.
Let stand 5 minutes before you are ready to serve. This will help to thicken the sauce.
And whaa laaa. You are ready to serve! Fast, delicious, and you know what's in it! Play around with ingredients to taste.
Let me know how yours turned out!
